The Brits are coming

Are we looking at a case of election interference? Around 100 Brits have recently rocked up in the U.S. to campaign for Kamala Harris. Republicans are complaining of election interference by a foreign power. The United Kingdom’s far-left Labour party is pushing back on allegations from the Trump campaign that it is providing illegal foreign assistance to Harris.

Representatives for Trump announced they have filed a Federal Election Commission (FEC) complaint against the Harris-Walz Campaign and the Labour party of the United Kingdom for illegal foreign campaign contributions and interference in our elections.

However, British PM Keir Starmer said that any members of his Labour party that are in the U.S. are acting as volunteers and what they have done in previous elections, is what they are doing in this election.

Should an old colonial power be allowed to influence an election of an independent country be sending people there to get involved in the election? Is this not neo-colonialism at it worst? Is the British government sending election workers to other old colonies in the world to try to influence elections? It is possible. Why would the British government try to influence the U.S. election? Starmer says it is a fuss about nothing, but the reality is that British election workers from the ruling Labour party are trying to help Harris win the presidency.

The British Labour party workers should not be welcome in the U.S. If election workers for China or Russia would be here, there would be an uproar. The Labour party is also politically a far-left organization. David Lammy, now Starmer’s foreign secretary, once branded Trump “a neo-Nazi sympathizing sociopath”. That was in 2018, in the middle of the Trump presidency. Then there is Sadiq Khan, Labour’s far-left woke mayor of London who likened Trump supporters to “the fascists of the 20th century”.

Like the old colonial rulers, the Labour party people view Americans as too dumb to run their own affairs. The Labour party is riding a wave of arrogance since their election victory earlier this year, when they finally defeated the Conservative party. Just like the democrats in the U.S., the Labour party has transformed into a woke progressive far-left party, focused more on open borders and gender alternatives, than economics and geopolitical issues.

Whether or not the Labour Party is funding these activities in the U.S. is key to establishing whether there has been any illegality. According to federal law, foreign nationals are prohibited from “directly or indirectly” making “a contribution or donation of money or other thing of value, or to make an express or implied promise to make a contribution or donation, in connection with a Federal, State, or local election” or an independent expenditure in support of a US presidential candidate. Candidates are also under obligation not to “solicit, accept, or receive a contribution or donation”.

An exemption allows foreign nationals to volunteer in US elections provided they are not compensated, do not make expenditures and do not direct or control activities of US campaigns.

The Labour move may end up backfiring, unwittingly benefitting the Republican camp. Americans are strongly anti-colonial. Should Trump win, this election interference will not be forgotten. The FEC is expected to conduct a review of the case. If it finds that a violation has occurred, it could issue a written warning or a fine, according to information presented on its website.

The Labour party Brits need to leave the U.S. immediately. No more election interference, no more neo-colonialism.
